Project description and objectives Through a diagnostic analysis of an Iraqi bank’s current SME lending business, this project helped the institution in identifying possibilities for strengthening and scaling-up its SME lending activities.
Expected results Based on the results from the analysis, this project supported the bank to decide on a road map for further growing its SME lending business.

Project description and objectives By developing and organizing training for loan officers of Iraqi microfinance institutions, this project aims to increase staff efficiency and productivity in a responsible manner. The training will therefore not only focus on technical loan officer skills but also address Responsible Finance practices as well as Client Protection Principles.
Expected results By bringing in best practice standards and international experience, this project will support the sustainable growth of the Iraqi microfinance sector.


Name of project Promoting SME Finance – A Technical Workshop for Iraqi Banks

Project description and objectives With this workshop SANAD (in cooperation with GIZ) introduced banks to successful SME lending concepts and tools, provided training on what banks require from SME clients, and supported exchange and knowledge transfer.
Expected results The project presented SME lending as a business case, which shall lead to an increase of credit to the private sector, i.e. SMEs who play a pivotal role in accelerating economic growth and creating jobs.
