Launch of the SANAD Fund for MSME

On 11 August 2011, the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZI, KfW Entwicklungsbank and the European Commission launched the SANAD Fund for MSME as the central pillar of the German support package for private enterprise development in Egypt and other countries in North Africa and the Middle East.

During this event, investment commitment agreements in a total amount of EUR 30 million were signed. Signatories included the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the European Investment Fund as Trustee for the European Commission, and KfW as the Fund Inititator.

The event featured the following speakers:
Dirk Niebel, Minister, German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), Dr. Norbert Kloppenburg, Member of the Executive Board of KfW Bankengruppe, Dr. Marcus Cornaro, Director Europe Aid Cooperation Office, European Commission, and Dr. Klaus Maurer, Chairman of the Supervisory Board, Finance in Motion GmbH.
